Austin Nature and Science Center Summer Internship

Interns are trained to instruct high-quality informal science education programs for elementary-aged students. Programs include:(1) Splash into the Edwards Aquifer - collect in creek, tour Barton Springs Pool - teach about the Edwards Aquifer (2) Incredible Insects  - collect insects, use a classification key, use magnification. (3) Additional programs to teach include Minerals, Rocks and Fossils; Pond Study; Birds of Prey; Mammals; Reptiles and more (4) After school programs, home school programs and scout programs are also offered weekday afternoons and Saturdays. (5) Some program materials design and creation available.

Extensive training provided for instruction of programs.  Instruction times vary depending on the program. Morning programs occur between 9:30-1:30. Afterschool programs occur 2:00-6:00.

Desired Qualities: 

Ability and desire to teach informal science programs to elementary school children.
