Senior Grades Math Certification

Students who are seeking middle-grades certification in mathematics in addition to their undergraduate degree are required to have credit with a grade of at least C- in the content courses listed below. These are in addition to the UTeach courses in the professional development sequence (Course Descriptions). Students in the Math Teaching Option should click here for the teaching degree plans.

Students working on a single field mathematics certification must complete a minimum of twenty-four semester hours of mathematics courses. The following courses (or their equivalents) are required:

M408D (Sequences, Series, and Multivariable Calculus)

M325K (Discrete Mathematics) or M328K (Intro to Number Theory)

M360M (Math as Problem Solving, spring semesters only) or M 375D: Discovery (fall semesters only) or M326K* (Foundations of Number Systems)

M333L (Structure of Modern Geometry)

M 341 (Linear Algebra and Matrix Theory) or M 340L (Matrices and Matrix Calculations)

M362K (Probability I)

M358K (Applied Statistics)

M 361K (Intro to Real Analysis)

With permission from the math department, equivalent coursework from other institutions can substitute for some of these courses. This list of courses is for students starting UTeach after spring 2008.  Please see the UTeach Advisor for the previous list of math courses.
